Meet our Secretary: Monique Fox
ABOUT ME
I live in Poulsbo WA with my husband and son where I love kayaking in our many waterways or hiking in our incredible old growth forests.
I teach middle school math in Kingston, WA where I love the challenge of meeting the diverse needs of students during such a formative time. Prior to my teaching career, I worked for a private, non-profit agency and served on several local committees, state task forces, and national networks. I spent more than ten years working as an advocate for individuals with special needs, training and presenting, running local support groups and serving as a Board member for a local special needs foundation.
I met Rebecca Petris more than 5 years ago when she offered my son David meaningful employment. I was touched by her ability to see past David’s challenges and truly value his contribution to the Dry Eye Shop. I soon learned that her true passion was providing information and support through the Dry Eye Foundation.
WHY I JOINED THE BOARD
Over the years I watched Rebecca work tirelessly to make sure that no one suffered from dry eye alone. When Rebecca invited me to join the DEF Board I was amazed to learn how much the Foundation has expanded to include advocacy, research, and safety while never compromising on their primary role of support.
MY WORK AT THE FOUNDATION
The newest member of the DEF Board I am working hard to get up to speed on all things “Dry Eye”. As our Board secretary I hope to contribute my talent for keeping things organized and in perspective. As I gain confidence it is my hope to help maximize our efforts at fundraising through grant writing.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US
DEF is growing in so many important and exciting ways and we need your help more than ever. Please consider donating now so we can continue our mission to provide support and education and ensure the safety of people affected by dry eye.
